I actually try to eat pretty healthy most of the time, and that includes not drinking as much. Of course, I still love having my glass of wine (or two) with dinner sometimes. However, since I have not shared a cocktail recipe in awhile, and St. Patrick's Day is approaching, I figured I would booze it up for this blog post and share my Homemade Irish Cream recipe! My husband was also quite excited when I told him I would be making it again for him, since he likes his Irish drinks!
Making your own Irish cream is really very simple. There are a few different ways that you can make it, but this is the recipe that I have come up with after a few years of trying and combining various recipes that I have researched online.
Homemade Irish Cream
Ingredients:-1 cup heavy cream
-1 can (14 ounces)
sweetened condensed milk
-1 ½ cups Irish whisky
(optional - leave out if you want the non-alcoholic version, just know that it will be a lot thicker without the alcohol)
-2 tablespoons chocolate
syrup
-1 teaspoon instant
coffee
-1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
extract
-½ teaspoon almond extract
(optional)
Directions:
Place all of the ingredients into a blender. Blend, pour, sip, enjoy!
See, wasn't that easy!? It is actually a bit dangerous to know how easy it is to make this, which is why I have to try and only think about this time of year.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
This would make a fantastic holiday gift or St. Patty's Day dish (I may not be able to wait till Christmas to try it!). I've been meaning to try this, so I'm glad I don't have to look any further for a recipe. Thanks, Elyse!
ReplyDeleteThis was delightful. I used half and half 1 cup, and 1/4 c heavy cream. I used 1 1/4 c. whiskey, vanilla paste (my favorite) and dark chocolate syrup. I cannot wait to give it away for Christmas presents, Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis Irish cream recipe is phenomenal. Definitely sometime to indulge in once in a while (not frequently because of the high sugar and fat content). Due to religious reasons, I cannot drink alcohol. The first time I tried the recipe, I used whipping cream and it came out very thick. The second time, I used half whipping cream and half full cream milk (this was an accidental discovery as I had poured half a cup of whipping cream away accidentally and was only left with half a cup). I also used 2 teaspoons of non-alcohol rum and brandy essence both times and it came out lighter (less heavy) but was still very creamy. You can add more essence/extract if you want more of the alcohol flavouring. This is HEAVEN!!
